About Ferndale Housing Commission

The Ferndale Housing Commission has played an important role in providing affordable housing opportunities for the lower income residents of the City of Ferndale, since its inception in 1969. The commission administers 125 units of elderly/disabled housing in two, separate high rise apartment buildings, 43 family houses scattered throughout the City, and rental assistance for 95 families through the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program. They also act as overseer of 60 units of privately owned government subsidized housing. The commission has maintained a "high performer" status under the U.S. Department of HUD's management standards since 1991. It is the priority of the Commission to continually develop and provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for the low income residents of the community.

Currently all housing is full. The Ferndale Housing Commission has a three year waiting list which is currently closed. The list is opened once a year for new applications. Please check our Notices page for opening date.
